What a great site! It is hard
to believe it has been 20 years! Glad to see everything
is still going strong!
Paul Newton, Eagle Class of 1984
Lumberjack Patrol - Troop 301
Finding this website prompted
me to "unearth" some old boxes stored in the
closet. I have tons of Troop 301 (and Pack 301)
memorabilia that my mother saved over the years.
Here is a photo from 1984 (I think):

Gary Robinson was Scoutmaster then. This was back in the
day when neckerchiefs were no longer in fashion
(although they have since made a comeback) and the
"new" uniforms with epulets ruled the day.
Can anyone pick out the Eagle Scouts in this photo?
There are at least five of them, maybe more.
Here is a photo from either 1983 or 1984. I am standing
on top of the "Tooth of Time" at Philmont
Scout Ranch in New Mexico. John Rogers, Sr. took this
photo. We made it to the "Tooth of Time" at
the end of our two week trek so this photo was
significant.

Hope all this 20+ year old stuff isn't too boring for
all you "youngsters"!
I have many fond memories of Troop 301 and the 11 years
of my life I spent in Scouting.

This photo (I am guessing) is from 1982. It was taken on
the front steps of the Meadows Rec Center. Most folks in
this photo are Troop 301 Eagle Scouts. From left to
right: Charles Brantley II, Paul Conroy, Charlie DuBose,
Charles Brantly Sr., Mark Furr, Paul Newton, John Rogers
Jr., John Rogers Sr., and Charles Sides

Here are two news articles that appeared in local
newspapers in July 1984 when members of Troop 301
traveled to Philmont.

Here is a group photo taken prior to our trek. In the
background you will notice the "Tooth of
Time". Back Row (Left to Right): Arthur Rogers,
Paul Newton, Roy Finney, Tim Russell, Charles Brantley,
Rudy Ramiriz. Front Row (Left to Right): John Rogers,
Stephen Russell, Philmont Dude (don't remember his
name), Charles Brantley, and John Rogers.

This is a photo taken of me and Charles Brantley at
Houston Intercontinental Airport (now called Bush
Intercontinental) prior to departing for Washington DC
and ultimately Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia for the 1985
National Jamboree. Myself, Charles Brantley, and James
Robinson (not pictured) were three Troop 301 scouts that
joined the massive Sam Houston Area Council contingent.
We had a blast!
